The Freeman Health System baby billboard is back by popular demand. The billboard, located at South Main and 32nd Streets, showcases babies born at Freeman Maternity Center.

The popular billboard began in 2002 and, at that time, was located on Range Line Road near the Northpark Mall. The billboard was taken down about two years ago, but at the request of many in the community, was put back in operation recently.

“Our community told us they missed the billboard and wanted us to start featuring the babies again,” said Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Baker. “We listened to feedback and are proud to announce a new digital billboard is up and operating. It demonstrates the pride we take in giving so many in our community a great start in life.”

The new, improved digital billboard lists the first and middle name, date of birth and weight of each child born at the maternity center on a rotating screen that changes every 8 seconds. Parents give permission for their baby to be listed on the digital billboard. Each baby’s screen goes up shortly after birth and will be available for viewing for one month.

Freeman Maternity Center has been delivering babies for more than 85 years. More than 1,800 babies have been delivered at Freeman so far in 2014. The maternity center features nine birthing suites with a home-like environment, 25 post-partum rooms and the region’s only neonatal intensive care unit.
