What better way for ringing in the New Year than spending it in Freeman Hospital West’s Maternity Center where new mom, Sonia Rosales of Granby, welcomed her new baby girl, weighing in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 20.5 inches in length.

Monday, January 05, 2015 - Freeman New Year Baby Derby
What better way for ringing in the New Year than spending it in Freeman Hospital West’s Maternity Center where new mom, Sonia Rosales of Granby, welcomed her new baby girl, weighing in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 20.5 inches in length. The new addition was welcomed to the world at 12:14 a.m. on January 1, 2015, which makes her Freeman’s first baby of the year. Dad, Adam Rosales, was also there and there are two siblings at home awaiting their new sister.

It has become a national tradition in the New Year to recognize the first newborn, and while it’s not viewed as a competition, there are certainly plenty of people running. “It’s always exciting to see who captures the title of the first newborn each year,” says Paula Baker, Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our staff loves to participate in this tradition to help make it even more special for the new parents. This year, they did all the shopping and wrapping for the newborn gifts. We do one for the first baby of the year. The birth of a baby is such a special time and should be celebrated, and we love doing that.”

There are over 2,600 deliveries throughout the year at Freeman. Congratulations to the family with many wishes for a healthy and happy future!
