Pink Door Boutique Earns National Accreditation

May 11, 2015

Pink Door Boutique®, a service of Freeman Health System specializing in hard-to-find women's health products and gifts, has once again earned national accreditation from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics, Inc.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Pink Door Boutique®, a service of Freeman Health System specializing in hard-to-find women's health products and gifts, has once again earned national accreditation from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics, Inc. (ABC). ABC is the national certifying and accrediting body for the orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic professions. Pink Door Boutique first earned ABC’s three-year accreditation in 2012 and recently earned re-accreditation for another three-year period.

Considered leaders in the profession, ABC-certified facilities provide the highest quality patient care, along with excellence in research and device design. ABC-certified facilities staff must meet stringent educational standards, complete clinical training and pass a competency assessment. Pink Door Boutique’s Certified Mastectomy Fitters have completed a minimum of 500 hours of mastectomy fitting patient care experience. Last year, Pink Door Boutique fitted approximately 250 patients with a prosthesis, and fitted more than 980 mastectomy bras. This certification is important to patients seeking post-mastectomy products because all insurance companies require patients to be fitted by a certified fitter. Trained and certified mastectomy fitters are integral to the physical and emotional well-being of the patient, providing instruction and training to the patient on how to properly use and maintain post-mastectomy products. Pink Door Boutique also offers continuing education for patients to stay up to date on the latest technology and advancements in post-mastectomy care.

“The staff of Pink Door Boutique is proud to once again receive this distinction from ABC. This accreditation demonstrates Pink Door Boutique’s ongoing commitment to providing quality products and support to women who are fighting the battle against breast cancer,” said Melinda Brown, Freeman Director of Durable Medical Services.

Pink Door Boutique, located on the first floor of Freeman Women’s Center at 1532 W. 32nd Street in Joplin, offers cancer and post-mastectomy support products including prostheses, wigs, clothing, swimwear, informative books and breast-cancer-awareness items. In addition, Pink Door Boutique offers cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, accessories and gifts for women of all ages, as well as a line of mom and baby product. Pink Door Boutique is open from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 417.347.7465.
