Freeman Provides Free Sports Physicals to Area Athletes

April 01, 2019

Exams Play Role in Health and Safety of Student Athletes

For the 28th year, Freeman Rehabilitation & Sports Center will offer free annual pre-participation physical exams to more than 2,000 area middle school, high school and college student athletes. Pre-participation physicals are only for students entering grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year, with the exception of Ozark Christian College. The physicals will begin April 3 at Freeman Rehabilitation & Sports Center, 2206 E. 32nd St. in Joplin. This session is for student athletes attending school in the East Newton, Seneca, Diamond and Sarcoxie school districts. Physicals will be offered to additional schools in various locations throughout April and May.

Injuries or illnesses are often detected during these annual exams to alert students and their parents about medical conditions that may require further examination from a family practice physician or a specialist.

Signed parental consent forms are required before a pre-participation physical examination can be performed and may be obtained from a school athletic director. For more information, contact Freeman Rehabilitation & Sports Center at 417.347.3737.
