Cardiothoracic Surgeon Joins Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute

Freeman Health System announces the addition of Dr. Catherine Nashed to Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Nashed is board-certified in thoracic and general surgery with the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Nashed earned her medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She then completed a residency in general surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass. Dr. Nashed was the first woman to graduate from the cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program at Tufts Medical Center.

“Developing a strong rapport with my patients is important to me,” said Dr. Nashed. “I always want to maintain open and honest communication with my patients because we both benefit. The patient always comes first.”
