Linda McIntosh, Freeman Volunteer Programs Supervisor
McIntosh leads Freeman Auxiliary with responsibilities that include fundraising, program development, volunteer scheduling, recruitment, retention, and training.
Fundraising efforts for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital programs have always been a priority of the Auxiliary. Fundraisers such as book, art, jewelry, mum, and bake sales help the Auxiliary provide donations to Freeman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute, monthly blood drives, Children’s Miracle Network, Ronald McDonald House, and several additional charities. Most recently, the Auxiliary has been able to increase its scholarship program for area students pursuing a healthcare education.
Since McIntosh took charge of the program in 2001 and implemented a year-round recruitment campaign, dozens of new volunteers now join the team each year. She has also expanded the reach of volunteer services to include more customer service desks throughout the health system.
“Volunteers assist and comfort Freeman patients and their families,” McIntosh said. “By delivering personal attention through dedication and a genuine desire to help, they enrich the lives of others.”
McIntosh understands the importance of volunteering in the community, serving on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors, as president of the Kiwanis Club of Joplin Board of Directors, as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, and as a member of the Leadership Joplin Committee.
