Freeman Hospital West Unveils Additional MRI

December 19, 2018

Addition Increases Access to Imaging Procedures

Freeman Hospital West held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a project to expand magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.  The project upgraded an older MRI and added a third imaging system to Freeman Radiology. The project also renovated 425 square feet of existing space to install shielding.

The image quality of an MRI depends on signal and field strength. A 3T machine has much more signal than a 1.5T machine. 3T images can provide extremely clear and vivid images and can often be done faster, decreasing overall scan time. The addition of a third MRI increased the number of appointments available by approximately 18.
