Freeman makes unprecedented commitment to health of older adults
JOPLIN, Mo.—Freeman Health System proudly announces the opening of the new Freeman Center for Geriatric Medicine, located at 931 East 32nd Street, Joplin, Missouri. With this center, the only one of its kind in the region, Freeman makes an unprecedented commitment to the health, independence, and quality of life of older adults. Responding to an overwhelming need to improve access and break down healthcare barriers for Medicare-aged citizens, Freeman Center for Geriatric Medicine offers a multidisciplinary team approach to provide comprehensive evaluation, easy access to a broad spectrum of specialists, comprehensive treatment plans, and detailed follow-up with primary care physicians.
Board-certified geriatricians, Saba Habis, MD, FACP, and Henry Petry, DO, FACOFP, lead the new facility.
“This endeavor will enhance the health and well-being of area seniors, families, and caregivers by having multiple specialists and important services in one location,” explained Freeman Vice President of Retail/Clinical Services Debi Koelkebeck. “In addition, our geriatricians have the specialized training and knowledge required to recognize and treat the unique health challenges of older adults.”
Freeman Center for Geriatric Medicine offers the following services to Medicare-age patients:
- Medication assessment and management
- Assistance with mobility issues
- Diagnosis and management of cognitive disorders
- Evaluation and treatment of movement disorders
- Nutritional evaluation
- Social worker services
