Hospitalists serve as inpatient doctors for patients whose primary care physician does not work in the hospital or for patients without a primary care physician.
Hospitalists:
- Manage care for hospital inpatients
- Coordinate consultations with specialists
- Order tests and procedures
- Provide a high level of care throughout the patient's hospital stay
- Communicate with primary care physician after discharge
Hospitalists are physicians who do not operate private practices—they are dedicated to inpatient care. All Freeman hospitalists are board-certified internal medicine specialists. The commitment and experience of these physicians ensure quality care during a hospital stay.
